They say an apple never falls far from the tree, and we have Johnny and his good pals, the Apple Seeds, to thank for an ample abundance of apple trees! Johnny and his little buddies traveled across the land on foot, made friends with all kinds of people and animals, and slept under the twinkling stars. Their delicious, heartwarming adventures yielded orchards full of juicy, delectable fruit that took a crunchy bite out of hungry tummies across the west. Even a grumbly wolf is won over by the sweet taste of the apples and the kindness of friends. The tale of JOHNNY APPLESEED is a tasty reminder that kindness is at the core of friendship.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The audition for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of Johnny Appleseed will be held on Monday May 8th at 4:15pm at the Episcopal Hall (210 Courthouse Dr). There are roles for those students in Kindergarten during the 2023 school year through 8th Grade. Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Director. Up to 4 students will be cast as Assistant Directors. Registration to participate will open on April 1st, 2023. To register your child email salmonartscouncil@gmail.com with the Names and Ages of your children. You will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours to notify you of acceptance. Spaces will be filled on a first come first served order.

Once you receive your confirmation email please note that your child will still audition for a role. This is a group audition–no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time!

Rehearsals will be conducted every day from 4:15 pm to 8:15pm at the Episcopal Hall. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role and be available for all scheduled performances. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 hours and 15 minutes will be asked to bring a sack lunch, dinner or snack to be eaten during the 15-minute break between sessions.

The performances will be held on Saturday May 13th at noon and 5 pm and will be presented at Pioneer Elementary (900 Sharkey St).

The Missoula Children's Theatre is a non-profit organization based in Missoula, Montana. This coming year more than 65,000 cast members across the globe will take to the stage to the delight and applause of their families, friends, community, neighbors and teachers!  The residency in Salmon is made possible by the Salmon Arts Council with help from Mountain West Real Estate, Jack & Lisa Whitman, Joe & Amanda Krakker, Jan & Marc Dell’Ario, Mary & Willis McAleese, Maureen & David Barton, T & Jane Burke and the Wolter & Schroeder Families.
